The Anveshi health group has been working alongside the Indian chapter of People’s Health Movement—the Jan Swasthya Abhiyaan—to develop advisories related to COVID-19. The group consists of various experts in fields of medicine, public health and activism. In addition to following developments in medical care, we have as been investigating the social and economic dimensions of the crisis.
As most of the available materials about the virus are aimed at middle-class households, the advice to ‘flatten the curve’ has been about staying at home, washing hands and wearing masks. Our advisories are aimed at common people and workers who cannot stop going to work during this pandemic and may not have enough resources at hand.
This group has developed advisories in different languages (Telugu, Hindi, Bangla, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Odia) and in multiple formats (text, posters, mobile website, video) for wider dissemination. Please find them below:
- Advisory 1 for people who have to go out and work during the COVID 19 pandemic.
- Advisory 2 on how to keep hands clean.
- Advisory 3 on use of homemade masks.
- Advisory 4 to doctors on COVID 19 management based on clinical syndrome, when lab testing is not available fast enough.
- Advisory 5 to provide guidelines on setting up community based quarantine facilities in rural areas.
- Advisory 6 to government on ensuring essential medical services (non-COVID) during the COVID-19 crisis
