Anveshi COVID 19 Initiative includes different activities that the members have taken up, initiated, written about since March 2020 either as individuals, small groups or as part of broader collectives. All of it is voluntary and none of it is a programmatic activity taken up by or as Anveshi.
Anveshi Health Group in discussion with Peoples’ Health Movement and Medico Friends Circle have created advisoried related to COVID-19. These advisories are being used by organizations working on the ground to increase COVID awareness among the communities. They also conducted two online workshops on safety and precautionary practices during the relief work for volunteers managing temporary shelters and engaged in the distribution of cooked food and dry rations.
Anveshi members became part of Advocacy COVID 19 Lockdown Collective formed soon after the lockdown was announced. They serviced the migrants in providing rations, cooked food and supported their travel, through raising donations from friends, acquaintances and families. They also sent appeals to various government officials alerting them to the emerging problems on the ground. A few PILs were also filed as part of this work.
Members wrote articles in newspapers and news blogs drawing public attention to the migrant situation, the much needed reforms in the health care system and the way voluntary networks are supplementing the government and other issues.
